MTSU students take on leadership roles to produce TXMD Runway Show
Middle Tennessee State University Textiles, Merchandising and Design Program students set their sights on an "Unstoppable Future" as this year's annual fashion show recently stepped onto the runway. The record-breaking sellout show saw more than 70 design submissions from students and a whopping 80 auditions of models wanting to participate in the much-anticipated event. In the end, 48 submissions as well as students were selected for the show.

MTSU Aging Health and Development students 'cruise' into fun for course work
Middle Tennessee State University Human Development and Family Science students recently went full speed ahead with a landlocked "cruise" party held at St. Clair Street Senior Center. MTSU students and senior citizens alike played games, did the limbo, danced the macarena and concluded the celebration with a conga line as part of coursework for the Aging Health and Development class. The class has been beneficial for Human Development and Family Science majors Sydnee Washington of Johnson Cityand Rylee Scott from Brentwood. Most students in the undergraduate program plan to work with children. But one in six children in Tennessee live with their grandparents, Weir said. "It's a great opportunity to get some experience working with older adults," said Human Development and Family Science lecturer Samantha Weir, who teaches the course each spring and fall. "And the intergenerational experience for the older adults is so valuable and uplifting for them."

MTSU business students engage with Amazon HQ executives at Nashville summit
Middle Tennessee State University students from the Jones College of Business recently had the opportunity to participate in the Amazon Reliability and Maintenance Engineering Third Party Summit, held at the Amazon Nashville, Tennessee, headquarters. The event was organized by MTSU alumnus Nathan Swartz, senior manager at Amazon. The 1996 MTSU graduate (B.S. in political science) graciously welcomed a select group of Jones College students into the inner workings of Amazon. The summit provided an exclusive glimpse into the world of the global e-commerce giant, shedding light on crucial aspects of supply chain, finance, information systems, and professional selling.

MTSU students create 'escape room' scenario to teach humanitarian law
Middle Tennessee State University political science students enrolled in Humanitarian Aid and Crisis course participated in the American Red Cross Youth Action Campaign, part of the nonprofit's International Humanitarian Law program, which educates communities about the rules of war through interactive initiatives. The program is sponsored by the Red Cross' Service to the Armed Forces division. Led by political science professor Amy Atchison, the course helps students examine the politics of humanitarianism and explore efforts of nongovernmental and international organizations to address challenges in this area. To fulfill requirements of the YAC program, Atchison's students designed multiple activities, both online and in person, to educate the over 530 participants of the project about international humanitarian law and nuclear weapons.
